Meet Our Pastor

Pastor Chris Dodson grew up in North Carolina and Katie grew up in Cedar City, Utah. We met at Bible College in West Virginia and were married three years later. God has blessed us with seven children, five boys and two girls. In 2008 the Lord gave us a desire to plant a church in Northern Utah County. Although it seemed impossible at the time, we began to pray that God would build a gospel-preaching church in the towns of Alpine, Highland, and Cedar Hills. We were thrilled when God opened up doors for us to be able move into these communities and brought together many pieces to make it possible to start Lone Peak Bible Church. We held our first church service (in a Highland city public park!) in May of 2014, and God has been faithful each step of the way. The Lord is doing incredible things in this community, and we are excited to see God at work to bring people to Himself and build His church!

Core Values

Learn the Word: As a church, we are completely centered around God’s Word, the Bible. We believe that the Bible is practical and applicable for every area of life and is our only and final authority for life. This means we center our preaching and teaching around the truths found in it.

Love Others: Our goal is to love each other and our community with the same unconditional love that Jesus has shown us.

Live for Him: We believe that if we truly know God’s Word, we will love others with the love of Jesus, and live our lives fully for Him. Everything we do is out of grateful hearts to the Lord who saved us from the penalty of our sin and has called us His children. There is no greater joy than to serve the One who gave everything so we can have eternal life with Him.

What We Believe

The Bible: We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and is completely true. It is sufficient as the supreme and final authority in faith and life.
2 Timothy 3:16-17

The Trinity: We believe God is One, eternally existing in three Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Matthew 28:19

Jesus Christ: We believe Jesus is the only Son of God and that he is fully God and fully man. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life and offered himself as a perfect and complete sacrifice for us when he died on the cross. He was buried and physically rose again and ascended into heaven and is interceding for us there.
Matthew 1:18-23Luke 24:39 Hebrews 4:14-161 John 2:1

Salvation: We believe salvation is a free gift of God that cannot be earned. All who receive by faith the Lord Jesus Christ are born again of the Holy Spirit and become children of God forever.
John 1:12Galatians 4:6 Ephesians 1:13Ephesians 2:8-9

Christian Life: Once we have trusted Christ as our personal Savior, sin no longer has power over us. God begins to work within the believer to make us more like Christ and help us grow closer in our relationship with Him.
Romans 6:1-8, 391Thessalonians 5:23Philippians 1:6Philippians 2:13

The Church: We believe the church is the Body and Bride of Christ. It is composed solely of believers and is distinct from Israel. The church must demonstrate by life and word the truths of the Bible and seek to proclaim the gospel to all mankind.
Acts 1:81Corinthians 12:13 2Corinthians 5:19-20Ephesians 4:15-16

End Times: We believe Jesus will return for (rapture) His church before the literal seven year tribulation. After the Tribulation, Christ will personally and physically return to the earth with His saints and begin a literal 1000 year (Millennial) reign.
Ezekiel 37Daniel 9:27Romans 11:26-291 Thessalonians 4:13-181 Thessalonians 5:1-10Titus 2:13Revelation 19:11-14

The Resurrection: We believe in the bodily resurrection of all mankind – the saved to eternal life in heaven, and the unsaved to judgment and everlasting punishment.
Matthew 25:41-46Luke 16:19-26John 5:28-29John 11:25-26 2 Corinthians 5:8 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9Revelation 20

How to Have a Personal Relationship With God

One of our primary goals at Lone Peak Bible Church is for you to understand that God loves you and has a perfect plan for your life. He has made a Way for every mistake and wrong thing you do to be forgiven because of what Jesus has done for you.

God loved you so much He sent His son to earth to die for your sins. Why did we need someone to die for our sins? Because God is holy and righteous and he demands that we be holy in order to be in His presence. Man is not holy because every man has sinned.

Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

We often try to make excuses for our sin by saying “I go to church”, “I tithe” or, “I do more good things than bad things”, however Isaiah 64:6 says that apart from Christ: “all our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment,” because they’re useless in God’s eyes. You see, because of our sinful hearts, our relationship with God is eternally severed. Without Jesus, our lives have no real hope for the future.

Only a perfect sacrifice could satisfy a righteous God and bring hope and life into our lives. Jesus, being fully God and fully man, offered up his sinless life for us on the cross. All we must do to receive salvation from the punishment of our sin is believe in Jesus and what He did for you and I to change our eternal destiny. Jesus took our punishment and satisfied the wrath of God upon sin. The Bible says that:

Romans 10:9 “if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved”

If we place our faith in Christ alone to change our relationship with the Father, we will be saved from the punishment of our sin.

Ephesians 2:8-10: “For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.”

It is clear that salvation from the punishment of sin has never been by our own efforts. It is only after we put our faith in Christ that we are able to walk in the good works that God has prepared for us, and live a life that’s pleasing to Him.

Friend, where do you stand in your relationship with God? Do you have a personal relationship with Him by trusting in what Christ has done for you in dying on the cross? Jesus said:

John 14:6: “I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life, no one comes to the Father but through Me”

Have you made the life-changing decision to put your faith in Christ alone for salvation from the punishment of sin? If you’ve made this decision, don’t keep it to yourself! We’d love to rejoice with you about what Christ has done in your life.
