Meet Our Pastor!
Pastor Chris Dodson grew up in North Carolina and Katie grew up in Cedar City, Utah. We met at Bible College in West Virginia and were married three years later. God has blessed us with five children, four boys and a girl. Their names are Caleb, Simon, Adam, Ben, and Lenora. In 2008 the Lord gave us a desire to plant a church in Northern Utah County. Although we lived in Provo we continued to pray about the towns of Alpine, Highland, and Cedar Hills, and how God might use us to start a church in these three towns. We were thrilled when God opened up doors for us to be able to move closer to these communities and brought together many pieces to make it possible to start what is now Lone Peak Hope Bible Church. We held our first church service (in a Highland city public park!) in May of 2014, and haven’t looked back since. God has brought along some incredible people who serve alongside our family and we are continually blown away by what God can do when His people surrender to Him in faith. The Lord is doing incredible things in this community, and we are excited to see God at work to bring people to Himself and build His church!
What to Expect
Atmosphere: We believe God cares less about what we wear and more about the motivation of our hearts as we come to worship and learn about Him. Most people wear what they feel most comfortable wearing, anything from jeans to skirts.
Refreshments: We always enjoy talking over refreshments. Stay a while, enjoy some coffee and snacks, and get to know us!
Worship in Prayer and Song: Our goal is to honor the Lord and teach Biblical truth through each song we sing, which is why every song is well thought out and intended to provoke our hearts to worship Him. We also believe prayer is an important part of our time together, as we praise the Lord and bring our needs before Him each week.
Worship in the Word: The children enjoy being taught a practical lesson from the Bible as well as a time of songs, crafts, and games. During this time the adults are challenged and encouraged in God’s Word through a message that is intended to change how we live, think, and talk in our everyday lives.
We are here because of God’s amazing grace in our lives and we simply enjoy meeting to worship the Lord, encourage each other, and learn God’s Word together. We encourage you to join us for the service this Sunday morning!
Core Values
Bible Centered. Family Oriented. Community Focused.
Bible Centered: As a church, we are completely centered around God’s Word, the Bible. We believe that the Bible is practical and applicable for every area of life. This means we center our preaching and teaching around the truths found in it.
2 Timothy 3:16-17: “All Scripture is given by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.”
Family Oriented: We approach church ministry with the family in mind, because families were instituted by God. Outside of our personal relationship with God, there are no relationships more important and influential as our family relationships. Many families today are hurting and broken; our desire is to support these families and show them Christ’s love. We will always do our best to serve, counsel, protect, and teach families in a way that strengthens these vital relationships.
Genesis 1:27-28 – Joshua 24:15 – Ephesians 5:21-33 – Deuteronomy 6:4-7
Community Focused: We know that the Lord’s desire is for local churches to be involved with and concerned for the community outside their door. As a church, we want to do our best to show love to our community in a practical way. This means we will do our best to have open eyes, hearts, and hands to the needs around us. The Bible tells us that the second greatest commandment is to love our neighbors as we love ourselves. The best way to illustrate Christ’s great love is to demonstrate it to others.
Matthew 22:36-39 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” And He said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the great and foremost commandment. The second is like it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
1 John 4:7-11 “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love. By this the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.”
What we Believe
The Bible: We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and is completely true. It is sufficient as the supreme and final authority in faith and life.
2 Timothy 3:16-17
The Trinity: We believe God is One, eternally existing in three Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Matthew 28:19
Jesus Christ: We believe Jesus is the only Son of God and that he is fully God and fully man. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life and offered himself as a perfect and complete sacrifice for us when he died on the cross. He was buried and physically rose again and ascended into heaven and is interceding for us there.
Matthew 1:18-23 – Luke 24:39 – Hebrews 4:14-16 – 1John 2:1
Salvation: We believe salvation is a free gift of God that cannot be earned. All who receive by faith the Lord Jesus Christ are born again of the Holy Spirit and become children of God forever.
John 1:12 – Galatians 4:6 – Ephesians 1:13 – Ephesians 2:8-9
Christian Life: Once we have trusted Christ as our personal Savior, sin no longer has power over us. God begins to work within the believer to make us more like Christ and help us grow closer in our relationship with Him.
Romans 6:1-8, 39 – 1Thessalonians 5:23 – Philippians 1:6 – Philippians 2:13
The Church: We believe the church is the Body and Bride of Christ. It is composed solely of believers and is distinct from Israel. The church must demonstrate by life and word the truths of the Bible and seek to proclaim the gospel to all mankind.
Acts 1:8 – 1Corinthians 12:13 – 2Corinthians 5:19-20 – Ephesians 4:15-16
End Times: We believe Jesus will return for (rapture) His church before the literal seven year tribulation. After the Tribulation, Christ will personally and physically return to the earth with His saints and begin a literal 1000 year (Millennial) reign.
Ezekiel 37 – Daniel 9:27 – Romans 11:26 29 – 1Thessalonians 4:13-18 – 1Thessalonians 5:1-10 – Titus 2:13 – Revelation 19:11-14
The Resurrection: We believe in the bodily resurrection of all mankind – the saved to eternal life in heaven, and the unsaved to judgment and everlasting punishment.
Matthew 25:41-46 – Luke 16:19-26 – John 5:28-29 – John 11:25-26 – 2Corinthians 5:8 – 2Thessalonians 1:7-9 – Revelation 20
How to have a personal relationship with God
New Hope Bible Church has many aspects to it, but the key to understanding our church is understanding that God loves you and has a perfect plan for your life! We desire to share that message with the world because we believe it to be at the core of Christian living, the climax of the Bible, and the way to a personal relationship with God.
John 3:16: “For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
God loved you so much He sent His son to earth to die for your sins. Why did we need someone to die for our sins? Because God is holy and righteous and he demands that we be holy in order to be in His presence. Man is not holy because every man has sinned.
Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”
We often try to make excuses for our sin by saying “I go to church”, “I tithe” or, “I do more good things than bad things”, however Isaiah 64:6 says that apart from Christ: “all our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment,” because they’re useless in God’s eyes. You see, because of our sinful hearts, our relationship with God is eternally severed. Without Jesus, our lives have no real hope for the future.
Only a perfect sacrifice could satisfy a righteous God and bring hope and life into our lives. Jesus, being fully God and fully man, offered up his sinless life for us on the cross. All we must do to receive salvation from the punishment of our sin is believe in Jesus and what He did for you and I to change our eternal destiny. Jesus took our punishment and satisfied the wrath of God upon sin. The Bible says that:
Romans 10:9 “if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved”
If we place our faith in Christ alone to change our relationship with the Father, we will be saved from the punishment of our sin.
Ephesians 2:8-10: “For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.”
It is clear that salvation from the punishment of sin has never been by our own efforts. It is only after we put our faith in Christ that we are able to walk in the good works that God has prepared for us, and live a life that’s pleasing to Him.
Friend, where do you stand in your relationship with God? Do you have a personal relationship with Him by trusting in what Christ has done for you in dying on the cross? Jesus said:
John 14:6: “I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life, no one comes to the Father but through Me”
Have you made the life-changing decision to put your faith in Christ alone for salvation from the punishment of sin? If you’ve made this decision, don’t keep it to yourself! We’d love to rejoice with you about what Christ has done in your life.
